Anderson .Paak just announced his new albumOxnardand now we have a taste of just how funky it will be.
Keeping with the vibes from “Bubblin’”, Anderson .Paak is rolling through this funky wave, this time with a little help from the one and only Kendrick Lamar. Premiering on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show this morning, this is the first time that Lamar has been featured on an Anderson .Paak song but the two collaborated together heavily on Dr. Dre’s 2015 album Compton and more recently on “Bloody Waters” from the Kendrick Lamar-curatedBlack Panther: The Album. The song is four and a half minutes of smooth lyrics, funky bass, and good times. The funkiness can be credited to producer Om’Mas Keith, who is also currently involved in a lawsuit with Frank Ocean over production credits on Blonde— but let’s not think about that right now. “Tints” follows .Paak’s recent singles “Bubblin’” and “’Til It’s Over” but it seems “Tints” is the lead single from the forthcoming album. The album, Oxnard, is being executively produced by Dr. Dre and will reportedly feature J. Cole and Pusha T but a release date has not yet been announced. You can find “Tints” from Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar on our Tasty! Jams playlists for October.
