Vampy Weeks hits us with 18 new songs.
After a whole lot of build up we finally have Vampire Weekend‘s sprawling, new, 18-track, double album, Father of the Bride. The album features contributions from Danielle Haim, The Internet’s Steve Lacy, Ludwig Göransson, ex-band member Rostam, and many more on the production side. The album’s hour long run time makes it no easy listen but it does manage to flow seamlessly from rather acoustic ballad-like songs like the opener “Hold You Now” to straight up bops like the 1-2-3 punch of “Harmony Hall”, “2021”, and “Big Blue.”
Before the release Vampire Weekend shared quite a few songs from the album, like “This Life” and “Unbearably White”, the Jonah Hill-directed music video for “Sunflower” and before that they released “Harmony Hall” and “2021”, which was, at the time, the band’s first new music in six years. In February, the group released an Emmett Malloy-directed music video (starring Jonah Hill) and detailed their upcoming album. You can find all the tracks listed above on our Tasty! Jams playlists over the last few months.
