Akurei’s first single off of his upcoming sophomore EP.
After traveling the US on tour with his good buddy and frequent collaborator Maxwell Byrne (aka Golden Vessel) Australian artist Akurei is back and releasing more music. “Stockholm” follows his cover of Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me To The Moon” (“In Other Words”) and comes alongside a Golden Vessel-directed music video that was filmed across North America whilst the duo was on tour supporting BAYNK. The song has a “glitchy” feel to it that’s accelerated by crisp drums and an overall chilly ambience that will have you feeling like you’ll need a cozy fur jacket of your own.
Speaking about the song Akurei said, “‘Stockholm’ is the first of a few songs I wrote on a solo trip across Europe last year. The song came together around a recording I’d done on my phone of the guitar part before I left. I wrote most of this song while staying in a hostel in Berlin and would have to quickly put down vocal takes between roommates returning to the shared room I was in. Lyrically, it covers loneliness and the longing for connection you encounter while traveling alone.”
You can find “Stockholm” from Akurei on our Tasty! Jams playlists for June.
